It seems Penn Badgley has a knack for playing the villain as many will remember him as the know-it-all Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl. However, these days you probably know Penn as everyone’s favourite psychotic killer Joe Goldberg from the Netflix thriller series ‘You’. The show aired its first season back in 2018 BC (Before Covid) and released its third season this year (2021). Let me tell you, fellas…it was iconic! The show has certainly boosted Badgley into an official pop culture icon after his performance left audiences feeling conflicted about whether or not they wanted to support the anti-hero antics of Goldberg. After all, most therapists would not recommend locking people up in your glass cage when you don’t agree with them. It’s just not healthy.

It seems Badgley has been blessed with two abilities: The first being his incredible acting skills and the second being the ability to grow a gorgeous head of thick and curly hair. It’s textured, tousled, and definitely steals the show. So, we have done what we do best and put together a style guide on how you curly haired fellas can recreate the best Penn Badgley haircuts.

When it comes to recreating the Penn Badgley haircut I would suggest going to a barber who is experienced at handling curly hair and ask for a side parting with short back and sides. The key to this look is leaving a generous amount of length in the top of the hair. We recommend you show the photo (above) for reference so they can get a general idea before they start.
For the top of the hair it's good to leave around 5-6 inches on top and gradually taper the hair down towards the back of the head. For the back and sides you will want to start with a #2 at the base of the neck and gradually move up into a #3. Finally, go in with scissors and clean up the hair around the ears.
This hairstyle goes well if you’re clean shaven, rocking that 5 o’clock shadow, or even a full on beard. Badgley does it all!
How to style:
This haircut is very similar to the previous one but you will have to ask your barber to make a few stylistic changes. Keep the length on top. In fact, go a little longer than the previous cut by an extra inch then ask them to put in some soft scissor cut layers. This will help create the required texture for your hair. For the back and sides you will want the same length.
How to style:
With these fresh styles the most handsome fella in the room is you.
