Italian footballer Gianluigi Buffon, 43, is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time - or at least one of the top ten! He holds the record for the longest time in a Serie A without conceding a goal as well as having 350 clean sheets. Up until 2018 Buffon was also the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when Juventus paid a whopping 52 million euros to have him on their team.
Buffon is also widely regarded as one of the sexiest footballers of all time too. It’s easy to see why with his brooding eyes, 5 o’clock shadow and long dark hair. While we put a lot of this down to serious good Italian genes… the other part definitely has something to do with the 50s and 90s bad boy hairstyles this goalkeeper likes to pull off.
Check out how to recreate two of Gianluigi Buffon’s haircuts below.
Buffon rocks this 50s greaser throwback with a flare. To recreate this haircut, ask your barber to leave the top a medium length, around six inches long, put in a side parting. You want to keep the back and sides fairly long, around two to three inches. To make things look neater you can gradually taper the hair off towards the back.
How to style it:
Throwbacks are all the rage these days, so we included this Buffon 90s middle part. Numerous celebrities have rocked this haircut from football pro David Beckham to legendary movie stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and River Phoenix. Not to mention that the hairstyle is trending with Tik Tok influencers.
This Gianluigi Buffon haircut is best achieved after a good four months of growth at the least. Then head to your barber and ask them to neaten everything up with a soft scissor cut. This will allow you to keep the length and remove any split ends in the process. Then create that middle parting and cut the fringe about an inch or so beneath your eyes. For the back and sides start from a #3 at the base of the hair and slowly taper up towards the top until you get to a #4.
For a modern take on this 90s recreation, you can pair your middle parting with a skin fade instead.
