How To Get Chris Evans' Captain America Haircuts

    by Zheelana Cottam

Chris Evans, 40, career initially kicked off in the early 2000s. The Hollywood heart throb starred in a slew of iconic teen movies such as Not Another Teen Movie (2001), a parody of every blockbuster teen romance you can think of, and The Perfect Score (2004). He then started moving in a different direction and starred in his first action-thriller Cellular (2004) with Jason Statham and Kim Basinger. A year later Chris Evans found himself in his first superhero role as Johnny Storm, otherwise known as the Human Torch, in the live action Fantastic Four (2005) and then again in the sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He then went on to star in the comedy drama The Nanny Diaries in 2007 as the love interest of Annie, played by the lovely Scarlett Johansson.

You will notice that Chris Evans has been blessed to work with some of the most talented actors that the film industry has to offer such as the legendary Keanu Reeves and Hugh Laurie in the thriller Street Kings (2008), Dakota Fanning in the sci-fi thriller Push (2009), Michael Cera in the cult classic Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010), and Anna Faris in the romantic comedy What’s Your Number? (2011). Just to name a few.

Evans was then swept up by the Marvel Cinematic Universe back in 2011 where he starred as Steve Rogers, a feeble Brooklyn boy that wants to join the military, who eventually becomes Captain America: The First Avenger. It is unsurprising that Chris Evans landed this role. It’s as if his whole career had been building up to this very moment. And he did not disappoint. Everything was incredible from the acting, to the stunts, and, most of all, the hair. In fact, the Captain America haircut is one of the one of the highest demanded hairstyles in the world.

So, we did what we do best, and put together a breakdown of all the best Captain America haircuts throughout the franchise from The First Avenger to The Avengers (2012) to Infinity Wars (2018).

    Hairstyle 1: The combover

It’s easy to see that Chris Evans looks amazing in every haircut that he tries such as these smart combover and side parting he sports as Steve Rogers. The comb over was a popular hair back in the 40s and still is today! This was the original Captain America haircut in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). This hairstyle is simple to maintain and looks great if you happen to find yourself in a suit or wear a uniform on a daily basis.

    How To Cut:

Ask your barber for a combover with a soft side parting. You can show the picture beforehand as it may help to have a visual aid. Get the top point-cut around three to four inches. If you find your hair is very thick feel free to ask for it to be thinned out with thinning shears. Overcome the hair short at the back and sides starting around two inches at nape and gradually let the hair get longer into the sides. Go over the haircut to blend everything together.

    How To Style:

    • Start with damp, towel dried hair to prep for your products.
    • Scoop up a small amount of our Styling Funk as a pr-styler. Rub the product between your fingertips to warm it up and then apply to your hair from root to tip, making the to push the hair over the side you like.
    • For that extra long-lasting hold, finish the hairstyle with a scoop of our Matte Lava Clay and apply it in the same way as the Styling Funk

Hairstyle 2: Short back and sides swept back

This haircut is probably the most manageable and most modern when it comes to the Captain America haircut. Chris Evans sports a short back and sides with a swept back top. This haircut follows him throughout the majority of his MCU films although unlike the picture above Evans’ hair is usually a lot more blonde and sometimes a little bit shorter. Either way, you can decide your length once you’re sitting in the barbers chair so you can match Chris Evans’ haircut to your hair type, texture and thickness.

    How To Cut:

For this haircut you need to ask your barber for a mid-length short back and sides with length on top to be swept back. For the back you’re going to want to start at a #2 at the nape of the neck and then move up into a #3 for the sides. Keep the hair at the partial ridge lengthy to blend into the side hairs. This should give your hair a square look which will make you look more masculine and sharper. Length is always important when it comes to the Captain America haircut so aim to point-cut the top hair at around four to five inches. Taper it off towards the crown by roughly an inch.

Tip: Since the transition from long to short hair is so smooth, styling this Chris Evans haircut is a piece of cake. The key to making this hairstyle successful is working on a damp canvas.

    How To Style:

    • Start with damp, towel dried hair to prep for your products.
    • This is a voluminous and matte look so you will need to scoop up a pea-sized amount of our Matte Lava Clay and warm the product up on your fingers. Apply product to hair making sure you start at the crown of your head and move forward so your hair doesn’t look too weighed down.
    • Now grab your comb and hair dryer. Set your dryer to a medium heat and blow dry the hair up and back from your face to create volume. At the same time use your comb to brush the hair up and back.
    • Finally, set your hairdryer to the coldest setting and repeat the step above to help lock your new Chris Evans Captain America hairstyle in place.

Hairstyle 3: Mid-length swept back haircut

This hairstyle that Chris Evans has in Captain America: Infinity Wars is a lot longer than the standard Captain America haircut but just as amazing. This is a great hairstyle for the funky fellas that have been letting their hair grow out and have decided it’s time to tidy everything up. This haircut is great for making hair look voluminous and defined.

    How To Cut:

For this haircut you need to ask your barber for a mid-length hair with length on top to be swept back. For the hair on top, you want to point-cut it around five to six inches in length for a more natural look. Gradually taper the hair down from the top for the back and sides. The entire haircut should be done with scissors.

    How To Style:

    • Start with damp, towel dried hair to prep for your products.
    • If you have thick hair we suggest using a medium hold hair wax as a pre-styler to help give your hair easier movement. Scoop up a small amount of NO GUNK Styling Funk onto your fingers and warm the product up. Apply the product throughout the hair, coating the hair from root to tip.
    • Now to create that voluminous, matte look you will need some of Matte Lava Clay. Apply this product in the same way as described above.
    • Using your fingers to guide your hair, brush your hair back away from your face. Then style the sides of the hair pushed back behind your ears to give everything a more defined appearance.

    The Beard:

    How To Cut:

One thing you may also notice about Captain America’s Infinity Wars haircut is that it comes with a rather dashing beard. If you feel like your new look is missing something it’s probably the facial hair.. The beard Chris Evans has is quite nicely maintained. It is cut close to his face using a #2 trimmer and moving into a #1.5 the closer it gets to the hair.

    How To Style:

To keep your new beard soft massage some of our Styling Funk in it.. Our product is so soft and nourishing that it doubles up as a beard balm! Just think… Once you’ve finished styling your hair you can wipe any leftover product you have on your hands into your beard. Easy-peasy! Then run through your beard with a comb to flatten down any flyaways.

The finishing touches are all sorted. Now, enjoy looking like the sexiest national symbol in the world. Dismissed soldier!
